Today, the world has entered a new period of turbulence and change. The backlash against globalization is mounting, unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, and the global economic recovery remains sluggish. Regional conflicts and turmoil occur frequently, geopolitical tensions are heightened, and global governance is insufficient. How to respond to these shared challenges? This is a common issue facing the entire world.
Global Development Report 2024 addresses the critical questions of our time, with the theme A World of Turbulence and Change: Cooperation to Address Global Common Challenges. The report is divided into two parts: General Overview and Special Topics. The General Overview reviews the overall progress of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, analyzes the development challenges confronting countries around the world in this new era of turbulence and change, and proposes an overall approach and key pathways for addressing development challenges through global cooperation. The Special Topics section provides systematic analysis and recommendations on seven major areas of global cooperation: jointly advancing green and low-carbon cooperation; open cooperation on global industrial and supply chains; global digital and intelligent transformation; promoting global poverty reduction through inclusive growth; ensuring global food security; global health cooperation; and financing for development. An English edition of the report will be released simultaneously.
