Give Me Thy Vineyard: A Novel of the Ozarks is a fictional story set in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. The book follows the lives of two families, the Darnells and the Webbs, who are both struggling to make a living on their farms. The Darnells are a wealthy family who own a vineyard and are known for their success in the community. The Webbs, on the other hand, are poor and struggling to keep their farm afloat. The story begins when the patriarch of the Darnell family, Mr. Darnell, becomes obsessed with acquiring the Webb's land. He sees it as an opportunity to expand his vineyard and increase his wealth. Mr. Darnell offers to buy the land from the Webbs, but they refuse, as they have a strong emotional attachment to their farm. As the story progresses, tensions between the two families escalate. The Darnells use their wealth and influence to try and force the Webbs to sell their land, while the Webbs struggle to hold onto their property. The situation becomes more complicated when a romance develops between two members of the opposing families, causing further conflict and heartache. Throughout the novel, themes of greed, power, and love are explored. The author, Guy Howard, paints a vivid picture of life in the Ozarks during the early 20th century, highlighting the challenges faced by farmers and the importance of family and community. Give Me Thy Vineyard is a compelling and thought-provoking read that will leave readers reflecting on the complexities of human relationships and the consequences of our actions. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
