The Gift of Abou Hassan is a short story written by Francis Perry Elliott and originally published in 1912. The story follows the protagonist, Abou Hassan, who is a poor but generous man living in a small village. One day, he receives a gift from a wealthy merchant who had previously been helped by Abou Hassan. The gift is a magical lamp that can grant wishes, but Abou Hassan must be careful in how he uses it. As Abou Hassan begins to make wishes, he quickly realizes that the lamp's power can be both a blessing and a curse. His wishes often have unintended consequences, and he must learn to be careful with his words. Throughout the story, Abou Hassan's character is tested as he navigates the power and responsibility that comes with the lamp.
