Do you know someone who needs a Team of Angels? Maybe that someone is you. I still find it amazing that the Team of Angels project began when I was feeling overwhelmed. I felt like a thick fog was hanging over me. I composed a poem about feeling overwhelmed. I originally called it A Guardian Angel for the Overwhelmed. I am not sure where the angel idea came from because I never gave a hoot about angels, never had an angel visitation, nor any firsthand angel experience. I read the poem to my friend Terri. She said, Oprah says she has a whole Team of Angels on her side. At that moment, I thought, Yes, that's what I need. I rewrote the poem to ask for not only one, but for a whole Team of Angels to help me. I retitled the poem to A Team of Angels for the Overwhelmed. A Team of Angels for the Overwhelmed I need a Team of Angels, Lord,
I don't think one will do.
Please send me all the help from high,
For what I'm going through. Guardians to watch over me,
And help my soul to cope.
I'll do the best I can to pray,
And cherish gifts of faith and hope. When just one angel won't do, you may need a whole Team of Angels on your side. When terrible things happen to us or our loved ones, it's easy to think that we are alone in our suffering. But it's not so. Angels are up there to give us hope, courage, and strength. So take heart, dear new friend, Patricia has gathered some of her inspiring poems in this book so you can brighten someone's day, offer comfort and solace, or reach out in love to someone in physical or emotional pain. Our Family Needs a Team of Angels! Some people say that I tried to pin the world together, one radiant angel pin at a time. What I was really trying to do was pin my own family together, one earnest prayer at a time. At times of frustration and upset, I leaf through the yellowed sheets of poems I authored many years ago. Even now, I continue to express my feelings with new poems. I still feel God's presence in the words. They were written back when I was caring for my busy family; making beds, preparing dinner, making doctors' appointments, shoveling the snow or polishing furniture. Most days, I was running to keep up with long strides of four active children. Now the four kids are grown. I remember those busy days with such love and fondness. A Team of Angels? Where did the thought even come from? The verses of the poems were my connection to heaven-simple little prayers. The first poem was A Team of Angels for the Overwhelmed, I added others such as A Team of Angels for a Troubled Loved One, A Team of Angels for Taking One Day at a Time, A Team of Angels for Raising Good Kids, and A Team of Angels to Protect My Loved Ones. I never had any intention of Mom's Little Angel Pin Project becoming a ministry or family business. The fact that over 94,000 Team of Angels pins have traveled worldwide is a surprise to others and mostly to me.
