The Gheranda Samhita: A Treatise On Hatha Yoga is a comprehensive guide to the practice and philosophy of Hatha Yoga, written by Sris Chandra Vasu. This book is a translation of the original Sanskrit text, which dates back to the 17th century, and is one of the three main texts on Hatha Yoga, alongside the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Shiva Samhita. The Gheranda Samhita is divided into seven chapters, each of which covers a different aspect of Hatha Yoga. The first chapter introduces the concept of Hatha Yoga and explains its benefits, while the second chapter discusses the importance of the guru and the student-teacher relationship. The third chapter focuses on the purification of the body through various practices such as asanas, pranayama, and kriyas. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the development of psychic powers, or siddhis, through the practice of mudras and bandhas. The fifth chapter explains the process of awakening the Kundalini energy and the six chakras, while the sixth chapter discusses the importance of meditation and its various techniques. The final chapter offers practical advice on how to live a yogic lifestyle and attain liberation, or moksha. Overall, The Gheranda Samhita offers a comprehensive and detailed guide to the practice of Hatha Yoga, including both physical and spiritual aspects. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in deepening their understanding and practice of yoga. This is a new release of the original 1933 edition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
