Beschäftigst du dich mit dem Thema Plastik und dessen Auswirkungen auf unsere Gesundheit, so wirst du schnell auf das Beispiel des indonesischen Wales aus dem Jahr 2018 sto en. Damals wurde der Meeressäuger an die indonesische Küste gespült. Als die Helfer das Tier sezierten, um die Todesursache festzustellen, fanden sie sechs Kilogramm verschiedener Plastikprodukte im Magen des Wales. Ein Beispiel, das zeigt, wie gefährlich der Kunststoff für die Gesundheit der Meeresbewohner und damit auch für uns ist. Immer mehr Fische nehmen Plastikteilchen beziehungsweise Mikroplastik auf und lagern diese dann in ihrem Körper ab. Wenn wir uns also einen Hering, einen Wildlachs oder auch jegliche andere Art von Meeresbewohnern auf den Teller holen, verzehren wir den Plastikmüll der Menschen. In Österreich wurde diesbezüglich sogar eine Studie durchgeführt, die nachwies, dass auch im menschlichen Körper bereits Mikroplastik zu finden ist. Besonders häufig konnte Polypropylen (PP) sowie Polyethylenterephthalat (PET) in den Stuhlproben nachgewiesen werden. Warum ausgerechnet unser Buch?
