Der schnellste Schlitten verbringt die Nacht auf einem Dach. Streiche, allesamt. Nur der vom ersten Morgen nicht. Und wer das getan hat, ist noch im Haus.
Ein Adventskalender zum Miträtseln: jeden Abend ein Fall, vom 1. bis zum 24. Dezember, und ein Mörder, dem du an Heiligabend einen Namen gibst.
Jeden Abend legt dir die Hausdame den Fall des Tages vor. Du suchst nicht irgendeinen Namen, du suchst ein Porträt: ein Stockwerk, einen Anreisetag, ein Getränk nach dem Abendessen, einen Nachmittag. Das sind 600 Möglichkeiten pro Abend. Nur eine hält stand.
Die Hinweise verdienst du dir. Jeder Abend beginnt mit kleinen, unabhängigen Rätseln, jedes in ein, zwei Minuten gelöst. Jedes führt zu einer Person im Hotel: Du findest ihren Namen unter Was sie gesagt haben und liest, was sie gesehen hat.
Ein Abend, eine Viertelstunde. Der Fall des Abends löst sich am selben Abend. Der erste löst sich beim Lesen: kein Vorwissen, keine Methode, keine Mathematik.
Und den ganzen Monat über ist der Mörder noch im Hotel. Niemand hat ihn je von vorn gesehen, niemand kann ihm einen Namen geben: der Unbekannte des Dezembers. Jeden Abend hinterlässt er eine Spur, ein kleines Detail, das nicht passt. Am Abend des 24. ergeben deine dreiundzwanzig Spuren sein Porträt, und das Gästebuch macht daraus einen Namen.
Was drin ist, und was du nachprüfen kannst:
- Alle Lösungen stehen im Buch, vollständig und Schritt für Schritt. Kein QR-Code, kein Smartphone, keine Website.
- Die Lösung gibt dir nicht nur die Antwort, sie zeigt dir den Weg: Nach jedem Hinweis steht da, wie viele Möglichkeiten übrig bleiben. Da bleibt niemand stecken.
- Jeder Fall hat genau eine Lösung. Das ist keine Behauptung: Es ist nachgeprüft, Fall für Fall.
- Der Schwierigkeitsgrad steigt gleichmä ig an: Die ersten löst man entspannt, die letzten muss man sich verdienen. Kein Auf und Ab.
Dieses Buch ist kein Roman: Du schaust nicht zu, du ermittelst. Und kein Glücksspiel: Nichts wird geraten, alles lässt sich ableiten.
Auf Deutsch geschrieben, in den Alpen zu Hause: ein Grandhotel im Schnee, seine Abende, sein Schlitten, sein Personal. Keine übersetzten Rätsel, keine englischen Wortspiele. Ein Toter am ersten Morgen, und danach kein Tropfen Blut: ein Krimi nach alter Schule, kein Thriller. Der Rest sind Dezember-Streiche, zu lösen am Kamin.
