Der Fiaker als Marquis is a comic opera in three acts by Adolf Bäuerle. This delightful example of Viennese local opera, written in German, offers a glimpse into the popular entertainment of the 19th century. The play centers on the humorous misadventures of a coachman who finds himself mistaken for a nobleman, leading to a series of comical situations and social satire. Bäuerle's work is significant for its contribution to the development of German-language opera and its reflection of Viennese culture and humor.
