Die Arbeit untersucht die polyglotten geistlichen Emblembücher des Stettiner Theologen und Pädagogen Daniel Cramer auf dem Hintergrund seiner dogmatischen und homiletischen Werke. Protestanische Bildtheorie, Loci-Methode und Predigtrhetorik werden als Voraussetzungen und Ordnungsmuster für die Emblembücher ausgewiesen. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit gilt der Herzemblematik, die zum Modell für die Emblematik, Erbauungsliteratur und geistliche Lyrik des 17. Jahrhunderts wurde.
