Das Buch ruckt in Fallstudien mit dem Liebesgott Amor eine bekannte und populare Figur der Literatur- und Kulturgeschichte ins Zentrum. Erstmals werden die variantenreichen intermedialen Darstellungen dieser Figur und deren Offnung fur den geistlichen Diskurs in asthetisch unterschiedlichen emblematischen Quellen beschrieben und diskutiert. Mit der Wahl des Gegenstandes, mit dem Liebesgott Amor und seiner geistlichen Variante Amor divinus ruckt die Frage nach dem Verhaltnis zwischen horizontaler und vertikaler Intermedialitat in den Mittelpunkt. Mit diesem methodischen Neuansatz wird den jeweiligen Verlaufen des antik-mythologischen, des philosophischen und des geistlichen Diskurses und deren intermedialen Verschrankungen nachgespurt. Deutlich wird so, welch groaes Potential die Figur des Liebesgottes Amor in der Emblematik entfaltet.
