The Yorkshire portion of New-series Sheet 100 had been mapped on the Six-inch scale in the previous survey, and the description of this tract was included in the memoir on The Geology of the Yorkshire Coalfield by A. H. Green and others, published in 1878. That area is not dealt with in the present memoir, but the previous geological lines are reproduced on the map (sheet 100) now issued.
