Frou Frou: A Play In Five Acts (1883) is a dramatic work by the French playwright Henri Meilhac. The play tells the story of a young woman named Gilberte, who is known by the nickname Frou Frou. Gilberte is a socialite who marries a wealthy man named Baron de Sallanches, but she soon becomes bored with her life of luxury and begins to seek out excitement and adventure. Along the way, she falls in love with a younger man named Jean, and the two begin a passionate affair. However, their relationship is threatened by the disapproval of society and the Baron's jealousy. The play explores themes of love, betrayal, and the constraints of social norms. Frou Frou was a popular work in its time and has been adapted for film and stage numerous times. As Performed By Helena Modjeska. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
