Kenleigh Nguyen-Peters is a Blasian beauty who sees the good in everyone. As she investigates her birth parents' past, she finds herself torn between her love for her husband and her need for closure following her father's death and her mother's disappearance. The internal struggle leads to raw emotion and puts her in situations she would have never imagined. Jawaine Franklin-Li is a young Black man who grew up in the suburbs under the care of his late mother's Asian best friend, Huang Li, and her husband, Bao. Despite jumping the hurdles of childhood, his upbringing, though unconventional, was filled with an abundance of love from his parents. The love that was instilled in him, is the only love he knows how to give which could end up being detrimental to his view on what unconditional love is supposed to look like. Jawaine watches from the sidelines as Kenleigh falls for the wrong guy. It pains him to see her suffer through mental, physical, and emotional abuse, but he stays by her side for as long as he could, always ready to wipe her tears and mend her broken heart. After they graduate from college and go their separate ways, fate reunites them in a place neither of them would've expected. It is there they learn that true love has endless possibilities turning reforming their Pain into Pleasure.
