Fish O'Toole's Adventures at Professor Preps' Academy, Volume I, is a collection of short stories about a magical place where children have exciting adventures and learning experiences. Professor Preps' Academy lies in the rollling hills just outside Big Town, USA. The Academy was founded by Professor Preps and his wife Yvonne. They wanted to create an enchanting place where children could have fun while learning and exploring. They wanted the children to be able to experience music, arts and sports, as well. The children have their own dorms which they share with their pets. They have good-humored caregivers, Mr. and Mrs. Mopps, who watch over them and a devoted cook, Mrs. Biscuits who prepares their nutritious meals. The campus is always filled with the sounds of laughter and the smell of fresh baked cookies and cakes.In Volume I, you will meet Fussy and Yebbie T and their friends. You will share in their adventures and enjoy the antics of the free spirited children and their caregivers. In The Poetry Contest, Fussy suffers from an embarassment on the football field and reluctantly enters a contest to redeem himself. In The Nervous Au Pair, the members of the Boys Musical Ensemble are surprised to find that they have a musical celebrity in their midst. In The Big Box, Fussy and his friend head out on a grand adventure to see their first professional baseball playoff game and in the process learn a valuable life lesson. All three stories are beautifully illustrated and capture the essence of the Academy and the children and adults who make the Academy their home. The stories are for middle school readers but are approprate for all ages. The stories are great for parents to share with younger children who would enjoy the entertaining illustrations.
