Fergus is five years old, full of energy, and absolutely fearless especially when it comes to food! From sardines to spaghetti with beets, Fergus is always cooking up wild and wacky recipes in the kitchen. He's not afraid to mix maple syrup with mac and cheese or blend up a smoothie with pickle juice and strawberries. Fergus will try anything once and then usually go back for seconds!
His older sister, Alva, however isn't so sure. She likes cooking with Fergus but draws the line at tasting his outrageous creations. No matter how many times Fergus begs, she always says the same thing: No!
Told from Alva's perspective, this playful and heartwarming story celebrates the joy of cooking, the courage it takes to try new things, and the magic of family meals. With each mealtime adventure, Fergus's enthusiasm chips away at Alva's reluctance. As she watches her family enjoying Fergus's creative dishes from cheesy toast with kiwi to lemonade with blueberries Alva begins to wonder: Could one bite really be that bad?
Filled with vivid food descriptions, quirky sibling dynamics, and lots of laughs, Fearless Fergus and Alva's Big Bite is a delightful picture book for picky eaters, curious foodies, and anyone who's ever been a little nervous about trying something new. Perfect for children ages 4-8, this story encourages kids to explore the kitchen, be brave at the table, and embrace the messy fun of cooking together.
Will Alva finally take a bite? You'll have to read to find out!
