Daughter to a dead dad and a mother that needs her more than ever, wife to a husband recovering from a life-threatening illness, writer, worrier, professional city employee, frightened little girl, young woman trying to figure out her place in the world...these different, and sometimes conflicting, roles are played out in Alice Ewens' debut poetry book as she tries to find her way home to herself. Fear Country is a journey in 3 'Acts'. The poems in each section deal with related themes of being lost in the wilds of despair, of actively trying to navigate through the mess of life (including getting angry at it!), and finally, of healing. A modern poetry collection, full of emotion and imagery.
