Jesus taught a message open to all, in or out of the pews. This book questions old answers and asks new questions, putting Jesus into his historical context and showing how everyone can walk his path. Modern authors offer many new ideas about Jesus: he was a political rebel or his body was left on the cross for days on end before being thrown into a common grave. Are these new insights or just novel ideas? Jesus was revolutionary, but not against Rome or Judaism. He revolutionized how we see God and ourselves. Many accept Christian doctrines on the basis of common assumptions: Jesus founded a church which became a new religion; all New Testament writers taught the same thing; Jesus was put to death for claiming to be divine and king of the Jews; he gave his apostles and their successors authority that we today are subject to. The author asserts that all these assumptions must be questioned, and that you alone can decide how to walk your spiritual path. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Clement DeWall is a graduate of the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, Italy and received a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Iliff School of Theology, Denver, Colorado. He has lectured in the US and Canada, and his books include Escaping the Mental Straightjacket, Saving Remarriage from Guilt-and-Punishment Theology and Forgive 70X7. He is married with two adult children and two grandchildren and has retired from careers in ministry and data processing.
