This book takes a deep, insightful look at life in all its fullness: the beauty, love, and laughter alongside the suffering inherent in simply being alive. It shows the chance life gives us, the gift to choose our own spiritual path, to fight our way through the briars and brambles of deceit, those thorns in life that bring suffering, and how that gift brings the joys that make being alive worthwhile.
Many of the stories are from journals I've been keeping for several years; others are new to this book. Some of the stories are sad, or melancholy, and some bring laughter, but woven through them all is an unwavering thread of optimism, of hope in the underlying goodness of life.
All the poetry is compiled from handwritten notes in those journals. It ranges from unusual to more traditional.
