This volume presents the funeral sermon of Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Richmond and Derby, delivered by Bishop John Fisher in 1509. A prominent figure in English history, Margaret Beaufort (1443-1509) was the mother of King Henry VII and a key player in the establishment of the Tudor dynasty. The sermon offers valuable insights into the life, character, and legacy of this influential woman, reflecting the religious and social values of the time.
Included is Thomas Baker's preface, which provides historical context and analysis of the sermon. This publication serves as a significant primary source for scholars and enthusiasts interested in Tudor history, religious oratory, and the lives of influential women in the early modern period. The text offers a glimpse into the funerary customs and beliefs of the era, as well as the political and familial dynamics that shaped England's course.
