'Frozen Fences' Landscape Images and Poems, are the result of a joint collaboration between long term friends, Brady Kent (poems) and John Ashton (photographs). This is the first book in a series. The aim was to examine the detail contained within landscapes, through words and images. While some elements are abandoned or decayed, each retains a beauty and significance, perhaps inspiring a deeper layer of understanding. On release, the poem 'Gate' was described as 'sad, poignant and beautiful' Gate Guarding. Guarding what is not clear.
Who lived there? Who lives there now?
The gate remains unopened,
no soul ever steps through. A gate without purpose.
Like stinging nettles,
wasps or ulcers,
or ageing executives fired, paid off. No road to guide our way
in or out. Not even a muddy trail.
Dark clouds scour in anger,
unable to rain on strangers.
