The author, Maxine A. Browne describes her work on this genealogy book as an arduous, yet challenging, exciting and totally rewarding task. With limited information on the background of some of her family members, she continued with her dream of tracing some of her family members back to the plantation in Alabama where they lived, worked and left. Along the way on this journey, Ms. Browne notes that she learned a lot about many people of long ago of various ethnic groups and races and deeply felt many of their struggles in their everyday lives. Although a difficult journey with many twists and turns, I thoroughly found my trip back in time satisfying and uplifting. I encourage readers to embark on their own tracing of their family roots for a feeling of joy and fulfillment.
