Mr. Paolino's six short stories entitled From Another Place and Time is strongly influenced by his early years of growing up in the Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area. Those years, unfortunately, were overshadowed by the pale cloud of the Great Depression and the tragic events of the Second World War.
