Friends Till Death is a novel written by Hesba Stretton and published in 1876. The story follows the lives of two young women, Mary and Edith, who have been best friends since childhood. They come from very different backgrounds: Mary is the daughter of a wealthy businessman, while Edith's family is poor and struggling. Despite their differences, the girls remain close and loyal to each other. As they grow older, Mary becomes engaged to a wealthy young man named Arthur, while Edith falls in love with a poor but honest man named Tom. However, their happiness is short-lived when Tom is accused of a crime he did not commit and is sentenced to prison. Edith is devastated by the injustice and is forced to watch as her friend Mary marries Arthur and begins a life of luxury.Despite the distance between them, Mary and Edith remain friends and continue to support each other through their respective challenges. However, as they grow older, their friendship is tested when Mary's husband becomes involved in a scandal that threatens to ruin their reputation. Edith must decide whether to remain loyal to her friend or to speak out against the wrongdoing.Friends Till Death is a touching story about the enduring power of friendship, loyalty, and love. It explores the themes of social class, justice, and morality, and offers a compelling portrait of two women who remain friends through thick and thin. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
