They bond over their respective traumas and vulnerabilities. Behind the scenes, a corrupt political figure blackmails a prestigious religious leader into killing Jason. His reasons for wanting Jason dead are infuriating and shocking. There are many twists-and-turns in the book--even down to the last page.
The ending is beautiful and heartbreaking.
