This biography, La Vie Militaire, Politique Et Privée De Charles-geneviève-louise-auguste-andrée-thimothée Eon Ou D'eon De Beaumont..., explores the life of the Chevalier d'Eon, a fascinating and controversial figure in 18th-century France. Written by N. Peyraud de Beaussol, the book delves into d'Eon's military service, political activities, and complex private life.
D'Eon's story remains compelling due to their ambiguous gender identity, living as a man for many years before declaring themself to be female later in life. This biography offers insights into the social and political contexts that shaped d'Eon's choices and provides a valuable historical perspective on gender and identity. This work is crucial for anyone interested in French history, biography, and the history of gender.
