Le Talon de fer (titre original: The Iron Heel) est un roman de l'écrivain américain Jack London publié aux États-Unis en février 19081. En France, il a paru pour la première fois en 1923. Francis Lacassin le désignait comme un classique de la révolte . Dans ce récit d'anticipation publié durant la période la plus créative de sa vie (soit juste avant Martin Eden), Jack London imagine la société future: révolte ouvrière, grève générale et répression. C'est une contre-utopie décrivant une tyrannie capitaliste fasciste aux États-Unis. Il est considéré comme la première dystopie moderne. Trotski considérait Le Talon de fer (1908) comme le seul roman politique réussi de la littérature mondiale. Un roman d'anticipation politique qui prévoyait une guerre mondiale mettant aux prises l'Allemagne et les États-Unis, la révolution d'Octobre à Chicago et l'avènement d'une dictature d'un genre nouveau pour les trois siècles à venir.
