Souvenirs Du Fort De L'est, Près Saint-Denis presents the wartime journal of Jules Bonhomme, a chaplain in the Army of Paris, during the tumultuous years of 1870-1871. This poignant narrative offers a firsthand account of the Franco-Prussian War and the subsequent Paris Commune, as experienced from within the besieged capital.
Bonhomme's diary entries capture the daily struggles and spiritual reflections of a man serving both God and country amidst the chaos of war. His observations provide invaluable insights into the social, political, and religious climate of the time. This edition makes available a rare and compelling perspective on a pivotal period in French history, revealing the human cost of conflict and the enduring power of faith in the face of adversity. A significant historical document for scholars and anyone interested in nineteenth-century France.
