Le Nouveau Marie, Ou Les Importuns is a charming example of 18th-century French opéra comique. Written by Jean François Cailhava de L'Estendoux, this one-act opera offers a glimpse into the popular entertainment of the era. The work provides insight into the social customs and musical tastes of the time. Its enduring appeal lies in its lightheartedness and accessible musical style.
