He is delighted at the prospect, at last he can watch football on television in peace. But who is going to sew back on the three buttons he has just lost? He wouldn't want to look at mess at the office on Monday morning on the grounds that his wife is away. There is the neighbour of course, Olga, a friend of his wife's, with a head like a bird's, a voice like a bird's. But you really can't ask a virtual stranger to sew buttons on without some minimum civility, can you?
