L'Égyptiade, Ou Le Voyage De Saint François D'assise À La Cour Du Roi is an epic poem in twelve cantos by Joseph-Romain Joly. This historical poem recounts the journey of Saint Francis of Assisi to Egypt, presenting a narrative rich in religious and historical context. The poem offers a window into 19th-century French literature, blending spiritual themes with historical events. It explores the cultural and religious encounters of Saint Francis, rendering his voyage in vivid poetic form. This edition preserves the original French text, offering readers a chance to engage with Joly's verse and the historical period he portrays.
