Évangéline; Légende Acadienne En Quatre Actes Avec Prologue Et Épilogue is an opera in four acts, with a prologue and epilogue, based on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem Evangeline. The opera was composed by Louis de Gramont, Georges Hartmann, and André Alexandre, with music by Xavier Leroux. This edition presents the vocal score, reduced for voice and piano by the composer. The libretto adapts Longfellow's tragic tale of love and displacement in Acadia, rendered in a dramatic French operatic style. It offers a glimpse into late 19th-century French opera and its interpretation of American literary themes.
