March 17th, 2014: the American led BICEP2 experiment announced that it had observed strong ripples in the cosmic microwave background, a relic of gravitational waves in the early universe (called primordial gravitational waves). This consolidates the general hypothesis of cosmic inflation and the Big Bang theory. This discovery, if corroborated by the ultimate results of the European Planck mission expected to be released this autumn, would lead to new hypotheses on the existence of parallel universes. Combining simple scientific explanations and philosophical reflection, the author discusses these advances and helps us discover the cosmic theories in vogue that predict the existence of parallel worlds and multiple universes.
