Six experts - du conservateur poussiéreux à l'influenceuse crypto-art - s'enferment dans un manoir isolé. Entre joutes verbales, crises de foi esthétiques et une installation à base de restes de homard, la quête de la vérité devient une comédie humaine où l'on découvre que l'art est peut-être tout, sauf ce qu'on croit.
L'histoire se déroule sur 48 heures au Manoir d'Éden-Roc. Arthur Miroir est mort. Son testament stipule que sa collection (estimée à 400 millions d'euros) sera léguée à celui qui définit l'indéfinissable.
Six protagonistes s'affrontent:
- L'Académicien (Le Beau): ** Pour lui, l'art s'est arrêté en 1850.
- La Curatrice de l'Avant-garde (Le Choc): ** L'art doit faire mal ou ne pas être.
- Le Marchand de Biens (Le Prix): ** Un tableau est un chèque avec de la peinture autour.
- L'Artiste de Rue (Le Message): ** L'art appartient aux murs et au peuple.
- L'IA Designer (La Forme): ** La perfection mathématique dépasse l'émotion humaine.
- La Restauratrice (La Trace): ** L'art est ce qui survit au temps.
Au fil des débats et des épreuves imposées par le testament (comme créer une oeuvre avec les déchets du petit-déjeuner), les masques tombent. L'intrigue culmine quand on réalise que la pièce maîtresse de la collection n'a jamais existé.
