La calligraphie sini est le truc artistique le plus connu de la présence musulmane en Chine. C'est une écriture arabe que les musulmans chinois utilisent dans les mosquées, sur des récipients ou dans des rouleaux suspendus qui décorent leurs maisons. La particularité de cette écriture vient de son style hybride, qui mélange l'écriture arabe avec une touche et une technique chinoises. Même si elle est née dans un environnement non musulman, la calligraphie Sini a continué d'exister pendant des centaines d'années chez les musulmans chinois. Elle a donné naissance à plusieurs variantes qui nous sont parvenues sous la forme de pierres tombales comme celles de Quanzhou, d'intérieurs de mosquées dans l'est de la Chine, lieu de naissance de cette écriture, ou de premières copies du Coran, ainsi que de récipients en céramique et en bronze.
