Vol. 1 with an initial 'Conditions' leaf listing sources for copies, the first being the Societ'e Typographique en ... Londres. In this edition the title in upright capitals apart from the italic lower-case ouvrage p'eriodique; the motto between thin rules under Linguet is in the centre of the titlepage, and volume numbers are between single rules; A Londres in imprint in upright capitals; the titlepage ornament is made up by foilage flowing at top horizontally and similar foilage flowing down on either side, and the centre line of this ornament from top to bottom consisting of four small asterisks or crosses. Vol. 1 is referred on the titlepage as Tome premier only; a variant may sometimes instead be found with the titlepage for part one: Tome premier, no. I.
