Abufar, Ou La Famille Arabe is a tragic play in four acts by Jean-François Ducis, first performed in Paris at the Théâtre de la République on 23 Germinal, Year III of the Republic. Ducis, a prominent figure in French theatre, presents a dramatic exploration of themes relevant to the tumultuous period of the French Revolution. This edition offers readers a chance to experience a play that resonated with audiences during a pivotal moment in French history. The work provides insight into the social and political concerns of the time, as reflected through the lens of classical tragedy. The play remains an important example of French dramatic literature and a valuable resource for understanding the cultural landscape of revolutionary France.
