Frankenstein: Or The Modern Prometheus is a novel written by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley in 1831. The story is about a young scientist named Victor Frankenstein who becomes obsessed with the idea of creating life. He sets out to create a being made from human body parts, but when he succeeds, he is horrified by what he has done. The creature he has brought to life is hideous and terrifying, and Victor abandons it in horror. The creature, however, is not content to be left alone and sets out to find its place in the world. It is rejected by everyone it meets, and its loneliness and isolation turn to anger and hatred. The creature seeks revenge on Victor for abandoning it and for creating it in the first place. The novel is a cautionary tale about the dangers of playing God and the consequences of our actions. It explores themes of ambition, responsibility, and the human condition. It is also a commentary on the societal norms of the time, particularly the role of women and the treatment of the marginalized.Frankenstein: Or The Modern Prometheus has had a lasting impact on popular culture and has become a classic of science fiction and horror literature. It has been adapted into numerous films, plays, and other media, and its themes continue to resonate with readers today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
