France Images & Messages, published in 2016, is a collection of color photographs taken in France between 1998 and 2015. Half the photographs in this book are digital images made with a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W40 and the internal cameras in the iPhone 3GS and 5C as well as images made with the low-resolution (300K Pixel) built-in camera in a Palm Zire 71 Personal Digital Assistant. The other images were taken with film cameras: a Nikon FE single-lens reflex camera equipped with interchangeable lenses from 28mm to 500mm, the Olympus Infinity Stylus compact and the Konica Revio Z2 using the Advanced Photo System (APS) cartridges. The collection is composed of seven groups of illustrations: Signs, Graffiti, Streets, Artists, Windows and Doors, Décollages and Portraits. The volume also includes a polyptych and an envoi. The photographs in France Images & Messages portray a France that is ambiguous, absurd and ephemeral-and often wistful and humorous. English translations and annotations are included in an appendix. Also in
