I haven't forgotten you.
From the first time we spoke to the last time we shared each other's company-without even realizing it would be the last-I haven't forgotten you. I know how cruel the world can be, and I have done everything I can to make it a better place. And I promise you, I am nowhere near done trying.
It seems like trying is all we have these days. Counting days like we count sheep, yet somehow we still lose track. How have you been? Because if we haven't spoken in a while, I hope the distance between us has been kind to you. I hope the next words you utter are, I found you again.
As you look down at this book, I'm looking at you and smiling, because this is one of my favorite ways to communicate with you. This is my love language.
I hope you are actually okay-not standing on the fragile lie that you're fine or okay, because I've watched that foundation collapse time and time again. I mean, look at me: standing in a pile of rubble and ash.
Still, I'm glad these words will be something you can firmly grasp and hold onto. And I promise you, I'll always be right here.
I haven't forgotten you.
I just hope that if distance finds us again, you can promise me that you won't forget me, because...
...the world already has.
