Forest Days: A Romance of Old Times is a historical novel written by George Payne Rainsford James and published in 1847. The story is set in medieval England and follows the adventures of a young nobleman named Reginald Tracy. Tracy is forced to flee his home after being falsely accused of a crime and takes refuge in the forest, where he joins a band of outlaws led by the charismatic Robin Hood. As Tracy becomes more involved with the outlaws, he falls in love with a beautiful young woman named Marian, who is also a member of their group. Together, they fight against the corrupt and oppressive government officials who have wronged them and seek to restore justice to the land. Throughout the novel, James weaves together themes of love, loyalty, and adventure, while also exploring the political and social tensions of medieval England. The book is a classic example of historical fiction and remains a popular read for those interested in the Robin Hood legend and medieval history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
