For The Faith: Life Of Just De Bretenieres, Martyred In Korea, March 8, 1866 (1918) is a book written by Florence Gillmore which tells the story of Just de Bretenieres, a French Jesuit missionary who was martyred in Korea on March 8, 1866. The book provides a detailed account of de Bretenieres' life, from his early years as a student in France to his decision to become a missionary and his eventual death at the hands of Korean soldiers. Through the use of primary sources, including letters and journals written by de Bretenieres himself, Gillmore paints a vivid picture of the challenges faced by early Christian missionaries in Korea, as well as the courage and faith of those who were willing to risk their lives to spread the Gospel. The book is a compelling and inspiring read for anyone interested in the history of Christian missions, as well as those who are interested in the history of Korea and the role of religion in shaping its culture and society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
