You don't hear death leaping at you. But I can hear you die. And I can see your body grow as grey and black as the soil that drinks your blood.
Micka never signed up to be a hero. Yet, here she is - at the front lines of humanity's desperate struggle for survival. Alone with Runner, she's about to march into battle against a terrorist organisation that vowed to wipe humanity off the planet. Or what's left of it.
Micka mastered the grim art of killing. Now, she must learn the true cost of survival in a world gone mad.

A haunting exploration of trauma and survival, for readers of Emily St. John Mandel's Station Eleven, Cormac McCarthy's The Road, and Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam.
Warning: Contains themes of war, trauma, physical abuse, violence, and other content which may be triggering to some readers. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This reminded me a lot of The Hunger Games but is much better and more realistic. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I have yet to read anything by this contemporary author I did not love; she never disappoints! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This second book is just more of everything from the first book. More intense, action-packed scenarios. It's just as fast-paced and equally thrilling. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ a most captivating and deeply human drama in a future set with death, fear, and hope. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reminds me of a more grown-up and realistic Hunger Games. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best book I've ever read in a long time!SO AMAZINGLY WRITTEN!! Perfection at its best! Also from
