Sylvie Dixon has disappeared. Her car was found beside the road with a flat. The loss devastated the town of Emerald Grange and changed the lives of its inhabitants. Years later the town's most devious business man, Chuck Larson, is buried on the same day the rain begins. This is no ordinary storm. The rising flood reveals what happened to Sylvie and how the two were connected. Leroy Eicher, Sylvie's boyfriend at the time of the disappearance, and Mattie King, her best friend, must reawaken the feelings of loss from the mysterious disappearance. As strange sightings begin to occur around Emerald Grange, the rain brings evidence to light that had been hidden.
