Fisher-Folk is a historical novel written by J.S. Cadell and first published in 1885. The story is set in a small fishing village in Scotland in the mid-19th century and follows the lives of several families who make their living from the sea. The novel explores the daily struggles and joys of these fisher-folk, including their relationships with each other, their superstitions and beliefs, and their interactions with the wider community. The main character of the novel is a young fisherman named Sandy Macleod, who is determined to make a better life for himself and his family. Despite the hardships he faces, including dangerous storms and the threat of poverty, Sandy remains optimistic and determined to succeed. Along the way, he falls in love with a young woman named Mary, who shares his dreams and ambitions.Throughout the novel, Cadell vividly portrays the rugged beauty of the Scottish coast and the harsh realities of life as a fisherman. He also explores themes of family, love, and the struggle for social and economic advancement. Fisher-Folk is a compelling and authentic portrayal of a bygone era, and a powerful tribute to the resilience and spirit of the people who lived and worked on Scotland's rugged coast. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
