The spinal cord and cerebellum are essential components of the central nervous system, as they are responsible for transmitting nerve signals, regulating and coordinating movement, and functional integration. This is due to their high metabolic activity, which makes their tissues very sensitive to toxic degenerative agents that have a significant impact on nerve cells and their integrity.Changes in structural composition were observed through electron microscopy, such as mitochondrial swelling, synaptic degeneration, cristae disturbance, neuronal disorder, and the formation of vacuoles in the cytoplasm. All these subtle changes indicate significant cellular damage that impairs neuronal activity and function. For these reasons, the book presents a detailed structural study using electron microscopy on laboratory mice, focusing on morphological and pathological changes at the cellular and subcellular levels, as well as neurodegeneration and mitochondrial damage. This study has contributed to a better understanding of diseases, particularly those affecting the central nervous system in mice.
