When asked about what makes art meaningful to me the first thing, I could think of was that I think it saved my life. Life is not always easy, and sometimes you are dealt a bad hand. But my artwork has been something that has been with me every step of the way and is something that no one can ever take away from me. Being an artist isn't just about having a skilled hand with a paint brush, it's also about how you perceive the world around you. It's about appreciating the little things and capturing the ordinary in a way that reminds people of what is meaningful in life. I am grateful to be able to portray a specific facial expression, unique to that person and that moment. It allows me to connect with the world around me and, hopefully allows others to do the same. Art allows me to express who I am, and how I feel. It allows me to show others how I view the world. It allows me to capture the beauty and the sorrow in the world and in humanity. Because just as there is beauty and meaning in joy, there is beauty and meaning in sorrow and pain. And this is where growth happens. Overtime I have been blessed to be able to teach others, not only how to paint, but how to be an artist. Hope you enjoy.
