A Riveting Memoir of Courage, Leadership, and Survival from an American Hero
Now a feature film, this true story of the terrorist kidnapping of Major General James L. Dozier in 1981 is the inspiration behind the motion picture by director Max Leonida.
For 42 harrowing days, the world watched and waited. Now, the highest-ranking NATO officer ever abducted shares the extraordinary story of his survival in this memoir along with the timeless values that guided him through a lifetime of military and civil service.
From the battlefields of Vietnam to the citrus groves of Florida
Major General Dozier reveals how he developed his pole star values, the guiding principles that sustained him through military combat, surviving a kidnapping, serving in Vietnam, retiring to Florida to develop businesses and community organizations, and running a congressional campaign.
A firsthand account of Red Brigades captivity during Italy's Years of Lead
From creating a secret diary code using Solitaire scores to keeping track of the time passing by listening to traffic, Finding My Pole Star takes readers deep into Dozier's captivity with the Red Brigades. Lessons from West Point and the Pentagon helped Dozier harness his faith and mental fortitude to survive the 42 days it took to be rescued.
Perfect for readers of:
- Military memoirs and biographies
- Leadership and personal development books
- True crime and survival stories
- Cold War history
- Books about faith under fire
Complete with photos of crime scene evidence and personal memorabilia, Finding My Pole Star is the perfect gift for readers of true crime, military history, and the Cold War. This inspirational book is also a great choice for anyone interested in faith under fire, personal development, and battle-tested leadership.
