The Fall of Troy is an epic poem written by Smyrnaeus, also known as Quintus, which tells the story of the Trojan War. The poem is divided into 14 books and is written in dactylic hexameter, the same meter as Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. The poem begins with the events leading up to the Trojan War, such as the Judgement of Paris and the abduction of Helen, and follows the war through its various battles and conflicts. The poem also includes many of the famous characters from Greek mythology, such as Achilles, Hector, and Odysseus. One of the unique aspects of The Fall of Troy is that it includes many details and events that are not found in other versions of the Trojan War story. For example, the poem includes the story of the Amazon queen Penthesilea, who fights on the side of the Trojans, and the story of the Greek warrior Memnon, who is killed by Achilles. Overall, The Fall of Troy is a rich and detailed retelling of the Trojan War that adds new elements to the traditional story. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
