Did Jesus really fulfill Old Testament prophecy?
At the crucifixion, the Gospel writers quote Psalm 22. They quote verse 18, about dividing his garments. They never quote verse 16 - they pierced my hands and my feet.
That's not an argument. It's a fact you can check in ten minutes. Every Scripture quotation is KJV, so you can verify every step the same way.
FAIR BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE
Every claim is presented in its strongest form - the best case for fulfillment and the best case against it. No weak apologetics. No cheap counter-apologetics. Dual fulfillment, sensus plenior, typology, inaugurated eschatology, the Second Coming - each stated at full strength before it is answered. Built to be read by a committed believer and a committed skeptic alike.
The fairness runs both ways. Every chapter sets aside the arguments this book refuses to use - because several popular objections are simply wrong, and an honest case persuades more than a maximal one.
And not every claim fails, or fails the same way. Seven different verdicts appear in these chapters, including partial passes and cases where a genuine prediction is found but the New Testament places its fulfillment in the future.
OVER 100 CLAIMS, TESTED IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTEXTS
You've heard it preached: Jesus fulfilled dozens of Old Testament prophecies - perhaps hundreds - and that is proof he is the Messiah. This book reads those passages in full and asks whether the claims survive. Were they predictions about a future Messiah at all? Do the New Testament events match their wording, subjects, and stated outcomes? Or were ancient narratives, poems, and oracles given new meanings once the events were known?
The standard is one every serious Bible student already accepts: read the passage in context, determine what it originally meant, then test whether the claimed fulfillment matches.
INSIDE - 107 NUMBERED CHAPTERS, INCLUDING
- Rachel Weeping - Does Jeremiah describe murdered children in Bethlehem, or exiles told they will come home?
- The Virgin Birth - Did Isaiah promise a miraculous birth centuries later, or give King Ahaz a sign with a deadline attached?
- Born in Bethlehem - Did Micah name the Messiah's birthplace, or the origins of a ruler who would defeat Assyria?
- The Suffering Servant - Isaiah names his servant Israel more than half a dozen times. What happens to that identification by chapter 53?
- The Sign of Jonah - Does Friday evening to Sunday morning satisfy three days and three nights?
- Some Standing Here - The test turned around: did the New Testament's own predictions arrive within their stated window?
ALSO INVESTIGATED
- Seven famous messianic proofs no New Testament writer cites as fulfilled - Genesis 3:15, the Star of Jacob, and the titles of Isaiah 9 among them
- Hebrew-versus-Greek wording differences, and composite quotations stitched from passages that never appear together
- Whether New Testament teaching on the Law, sacrifice, and the New Covenant agrees with what the Hebrew Bible says about itself
THE CONCLUSION
Judged by fixed, pre-event standards, the major claims do not establish the clear predictive fulfillment that popular apologetics presents. The connections are often real and ancient - but they were recognized afterward, and the New Testament says so itself in three places.
Not mockery, not hostility - an invitation to obey the instruction to prove all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21), letting every passage speak in its own context.
This is the book I hand to my own family and friends when they ask what I concluded, and why.
