The title poem is a meditation on the enduring theme of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth. Subsequent poems address: The coming of self awareness as in Snipe Hunt Placebo Dilemma The burden of suffering a muse as in Stone Soup and The experience of crossing over to the farewell period of life as in Continental Divide. ------------------------------------------------ Excerpt from In the Lee of Eurydice's Gaze Apogee Yet, by what widening ripples' reach marks this silent witness' progress? His final, best, gift: That I did not so much Bring him to this place For his solitary solace, As he has brought me To his, for mine.
